Does Power Corrupt?

I went to see “An Enemy of the People” at the newly refurbished Sheffield Crucible last week, and it was really powerful stuff.

I also love the Sheffield Theatres Trust website, which is specially themed for this production!

War Horse

I went to the New London Theatre with my old uni mate Viki. We spent many hours together set-building and designing for our degree – so, always up for a bit of “proper” theatre, we went to see War Horse and were WELL impressed with this set, and the AMAZING puppets used in this play.

I highly recommend seeing this, I loved it!!

Dirty Street Ads!

I like the idea behind dirtystreetads.com. This Bristol-based company provide pavement advertising by pressure-washing stencilled logos/messages into existing grime. Effective, legal, eco-friendly and original!

25 Years, Still Red Hot (Virgin Atlantic)

This celebratory advert works on so many levels, the music, the costumes, the red, the sexiness, the alignment of other iconic brands from the era... It’s a brave move and a vivid splash of colour in a climate which is today rather grey, gloomy and recession-focused. Virgin Atlantic’s Still Red Hot advert is confident, uplifting and reminds us that we’ve got through tough times before – and that Virgin Atlantic has kept its head well and truly above the clouds. A breath of fresh air ;-)

HSBC Virtual Forest

I’ve switched all my accounts to online statements, so no more paper from my bank.

Thought I’d share this with you as it’s a lovely campaign, and a cool, inclusive green idea.

Let’s hope my tree grows some money on it - it’s called “moolahtree.”

Check out the Virtual Forest. For every 20 paper statements switched off by an HSBC customer, HSBC will plant a real tree. https://virtualforest.hsbc.co.uk/

Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

I like Whittlebury Hall Hotel Spa – this place is totally wonderful – not cheap, but absolutely the most relaxing place I’ve ever been, the facilities are beaut and you can choose from a wide range of relaxing activities or exercise, and the food is great too! They have a full range of massage treatments from Turkish Hamman to Indian head massage, along with Beauty treatments such as facials, hairdressing, mani/pedi etc. etc.

My Friday holiday went like this:
Lazing about in the following... Aromatherapy Crystal Steam Room... Caldarium... Experience Showers... Hydrotherapy Pool... Ice Cave (brrrrrrr!)... Roman Salt Steam Room... Sanarium... Tepidarium... Sauna

I also had some less lazy moments:
50 lengths in the pool... 30 mins in gym... 60 mins circuit training

The rest of the time I spent like this:
Eating & Drinking – fruit & water + healthy fish & salad buffet lunch + cream tea + 3 course gourmet meal + booze (so gradually ruined all the hard work)

Check it out:
http://www.whittleburyhall.co.uk/spa_index.asp

It’s near Silverstone (Milton Keynes, M1 Junction 14), and is where all the racing drivers usually stay, and is well lush!

PopArt Sneakers

How cool are these PopArt sneakers...

“They look like they’ve been drawn right onto your feet in a comic book style – love em!”

Mine’s a pint of peas please!

Down in the big smoke, the latest snacklet to accompany your pint is the fabulous wasabi pea! Usually served in generous “pint of peas” portions, the peas are small and seemingly innocuous. BUT they pack a nose tingling punch that’ll make your eyes water. They’re dried peas coated in wasabi paste (normally to be found in Japanese cuisine like sushi). Sounds horrific doesn’t it, but there’s a good reason the packet in this photo is empty... I can feel a wasabi pea eating competition coming on...

The Police: gig at MEN Arena

Expecting a nostalgic night where me and my little sis could reminisce to well-known tunes from our Dad’s record collection, we got rather more than we bargained for, with Sting wowing the ladeez in a tight see-thru top and some WICKED performances from three men old enough to BE our Dad in fact. Everything they does is magic...!

Daft Hands - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Sex and The City

Sex and The City (2008) Official Movie Trailer

My favourite shopping pal and I (AND she’s actually called Cari...!) spent the ultimate girly day out together:

1 – Shoe shopping
2 – TopShop shopping
3 – Ladies wot lunch
4 – Ladies wot blow-out on Ben & Jerry’s
5 – Settle into our “superior” style seats at the cinema to watch Sex and The City in glorious Technicolor
6 – Sob loudly and uncontrollably throughout the film
7 – Quick visit to Boots to reapply ruined faces

Whew what a day!

Bopit!

I like the Bopit Extreme2 - it's a great hand-eye coordination game and lots of fun - rhythm and fast reactions are necessary... and not to be played after one too many shandies as it's shockingly difficult!

Some really cool ads...

“I love these – they use and manipulate the items they’re posted on really cleverly to create fun and thought-provoking adverts”

I opened Pandora’s box

I was lucky enough to receive one of these lovely things for my birthday. I really like the Pandora bracelet because it’s the gift that keeps on giving – you can update it, add to it, change it … it’s a modern day take on the traditional charm bracelet but without a single silver bootee in sight!!!

Ooooh Yvetty!

Apparently, the opening bars to the theme tune for classic TV program “Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em” spells out “some mothers do ave em” in Morse code!

Click here to hear the tune...

What a genius idea from the late composer Ronnie Hazlehurst (who apparently was paid £30 for the work!)?

Photo supplied by Tom – inspired by the “Some Mothers Do Ave Em” story, he created this picture of our very own Frank and "Yvetty"!

Gorilla on the Go

The “Gorilla Pod”, besides having a cool name, is an ingenious tripod designed to fit either lightweight digital cameras or heavier SLRs. It’s a veritable feat of fantastic engineering. It’ll cling to fences, branches, rocks, lampposts, or whatever… and create a stable platform for those of us who want to take sharp shots, but have the constant shakes from doubtless too many nights out on the trot…!

Treadmills… Ok Go

I love the simplicity of this music video Ok Go. The concept is inventive and executed to perfection – the music, the outfits, the comic timing and the general child-like larking about make for a compelling watch – it really makes you want to join in!

In fact, let me at the gym so I can have a go (there’s a first time for everything…)!

Online for The White House

Spotted an article on Brand Republic, it’s a clear sign of times and the web’s growing power and influence. The next US Presidential race could feature public online debates between Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and Republicans John McCain and Mitt Romney…!

As the internet become more deep-rooted in our culture and society, you can expect political online activity to become far more common. Check out the full article here.

ThinkProgress is keeping track of all the 2008 Presidential candidates’ online activities with a side by side comparison. It’ll be interesting to see if those who have a greater online presence will generate a higher turnout in votes.

We’ll find out for sure in 2008.

Medex Training

MedEx Training Limited appointed DKPM at the end of 2006 to help define and create their new corporate identity, including their inspirational positioning statement, 'improving knowledge for life'.

I love their new identity because it demonstrates the real personalities within the MedEx business and looks sharp and fun, while still being professional and corporate. A brave use of bright pink I’d say… and it totally works!

So far, we’ve created a suite of new training literature, leaflets, branded promotional items and their new website; check it out at:
