It's Back! It's Big! It's at Battersea!

Following the huge success in 2006 of the British Academy Video Games Awards, we are delighted to be continuing as the Official Brand Partner for 2007.

This year will be even bigger and better, and we are honoured to continue our strategic partnership with the BAFTA team.

We have been working closely with BAFTA to further build the Games Awards brand, with an integrated promotional campaign and the design of all event literature.

We launched the fantastic microsite in the summer, showcasing the excitement of the evening, while giving all industry professionals the opportunity to get involved. See for yourself at www.bavga.co.uk

Following last year's spectacular televised ceremony at the Roundhouse, this year's Awards will take place on Tuesday 23 October at Battersea Evolution in Battersea Park, and will be televised on E4 and T4.

Digital Beings

Lovebytes 2007 is an International Festival of Digital Art & Media, bringing together outstanding creative work from the fields of music, film, art and design.

This year’s theme is ‘Process’ and focuses on the creative and technical systems involved in creating art with computers and digital technologies.

The cute little character’s you can see in the image below have been appearing on postcards all around Sheffield, branding the festival and digital technology with a warm, soft, fuzzy identity. But how does this tie in with ‘Process’?

Matt Pyke of
Universal Everything explains that each character is unique, and there are 20,000 of them out there! They have all been grown from a single ‘seed’, using a program which spawns different creature designs automatically through variations in parameters such as hair, colour, shape and size – it’ll even generate the characters’ own unique name.

Beachside Brew

Southwold, on the Suffolk coast, is the home of the longstanding Adnams Brewery. This brand markets itself wonderfully, capturing the essence of timelessness and long sunny days by the sea.

The tranquility of a small fishing town is reflected in their strong visual identity.

Just look at the high production values and the quality of illustration in their promo cards...

Check out the ingenious design they’ve used to package three beers together with a pint glass – it makes a perfect gift! They also have a Broadside Beer flavoured run of Kettle Chips, mmmm delicious!

Fast as Schnell

Check out this Business Week article revealing the principles that drive hot Miami ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky and how there’re reviving the flagging VW brand across America with the help of German dominatrix Miss Helga … Read the article here.

Helga implores drivers of tuned cars to "Unpimp Your Auto", poking fun at the way other cars are souped up by local garages, whilst the VW GTi, is ‘pre-tuned’ for performance in Germany.

The tied-in online test drive won a
Cannes Lion. After choosing various options for your GTi, Helga goes for a test drive with you and seductively comments on each item you've chosen...

You can learn more about Helga on her amusing
MySpace page.

Check out the video below, and experience your own test drive on the VW
website.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Forget strong coffee; apparently the best thing to give you energy and drive is a blast of pure oxygen!

Oxy Fit’ provide cans of 99.5 % medically pure oxygen from Switzerland. They say it will help you to combat the effects of stress, exhaustion and fatigue, making you feel better and get through a stressful day.

Oxy Fit even let you brand their cans; it’s already been used as a promotional giveaway for the likes of
Panasonic, Calvin Klein, Volvo and of course mobile phone provider O2 would have been crazy not to use it!

Medex Training

MedEx Training Limited appointed DKPM at the end of 2006 to help define and create their new corporate identity, including their inspirational positioning statement, 'improving knowledge for life'.

I love their new identity because it demonstrates the real personalities within the MedEx business and looks sharp and fun, while still being professional and corporate. A brave use of bright pink I’d say… and it totally works!

So far, we’ve created a suite of new training literature, leaflets, branded promotional items and their new website; check it out at:

Dr Stuart's Tea

Extraordinarily good teas: extraordinarily great packaging. The pack designs are so different to other tea brands, something which couldn’t be said of their old packaging.

See the website for some of the strangest characters on the internet; you certainly won't forget this brand anytime soon!

Cereal Naturally...

Spotted these creative packaging designs for Dorset Cereals. The pack sizes, materials, colours and see through sections draw your attention to the textures and makes the brand stand out as an appealing natural, healthier choice. Tastes bloomin’ brilliant too!

This range of packaging was also commended in the
2007 Design Week Awards.
